Diversity in Health & Care pilot guidance for authors and reviewers.

The publication stage is identified as a critical point within the research cycle where researchers can be prompted to consider ways of improving the quality of their published work in the areas of 'race', ethnicity and/or minorities.

A Guidance Checklist for authors and reviewers has therefore been developed for piloting in several journals and the Editors of Diversity in Health & Care have kindly agreed that the journal can be used as a pilot site. The pilot will not affect the usual way in which articles are dealt with by the journal and the research team will not have access to reviewers’ confidential comments on papers submitted.

We invite all authors and reviewers to consider and use the Guidance Checklist when preparing or reviewing a manuscript. Use of the Guidance Checklist is voluntary and we do not ask you to submit the checklist to us after completion.

To help you make an informed decision about whether or not you wish to participate please download our relevant participant information sheet:

We want to know about the usefulness and appropriateness of the Guidance Checklist so that it can be improved in the future. Feedback is therefore sought from authors and reviewers via a short electronic questionnaire. This should take between 10-15 minutes to complete.  Please give us your feedback here: Click here to access the survey.
